Our Membership Officer and selected members of the Lodge, with a broad range of membership and masonic experience, regularly meet to review the ongoing membership programme of the Lodge. All members are encouraged to use Solomon for masonic references and are always offered progression into Royal Arch when appropriate.
Greenstede Lodge members are proud of their record in visiting other lodges, especially those based at the St James Road Masonic Centre, and all new members are encouraged to broaden their masonic knowledge by visiting other lodges. The current masters of the four lodges based at the East Grinstead Masonic Centre regularly attend the other lodges and often take office in their ceremonies.
Initiates are always being sought and we hope to have referrals from the Province’s Membership Officer whenever this is possible. Members are encouraged to seek new candidates and we hold regular social events to assist with this. Joining members are also very important to help broaden the Lodge’s masonic experience.
Contingency Plan
The Lodge has also considered the event in which certain keys members were unable to continue in their present posts. The 3 most important positions which would prevent the lodge continuing are the Worshipful Master, Secretary & Treasurer. We are fortunate that we have a number of Worshipful Masters who could take over that post. We also have an assistant treasurer although not listed who could also take over and previous secretaries who would be able to take over the running of our official duties.
Our Future Action Plan
a) Young Membership Coordinator – The future of the Lodge needs to be maintained by a younger element of the membership.
b) Younger member participation – The by-laws allow for the new Deacons in every year to be appointed to the Lodge Committee and one would be re- appointed as a Warden on progression to allow another Deacon to move onto the Committee. This allows the natural increase of the Lodge Committee and younger members to take an element of control for the future.
c) Reduced annual subscription for new members up to the age of 25.
d) Following the increased social activities at the East grinstead Masonic Centre encourage all members to take an active part and attend many of the events, which range from attending the local theatre, quiz nights, bowls, bbq’s, concerts and many more.
